Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Nero facing left, with characteristic youthful features including curly hair rendered in tight ringlets and a short beard. The emperor's portrait is executed in high relief in the Julio-Claudian artistic tradition, with naturalistic modelling of the face and neck. A laurel wreath, symbol of imperial authority and military triumph, crowns the head. The circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading from the lower left in Latin capitals.
