Obverse description The obverse depicts a funerary carpentum — a two-wheeled, ornately decorated carriage — drawn by two mules facing right, rendered in low relief with considerable detail on the carriage body and wheels. A draped figure, likely representing the deified Domitilla, is seated within or implied by the carriage. The circumferential Latin legend reads DOMITILLAE IMP CAES VESP AVG, honoring Domitilla as sister of Vespasian. In the exergue, the letters S C (Senatus Consulto) appear, authorizing the issue by senatorial decree. The composition commemorates the posthumous consecration of Domitilla under Titus.
