She holds a wreath extended in her right hand and a palm frond in her left, both attributes emblematic of military triumph. The senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is placed in the lower field flanking the figure on either side. The surrounding legend VICTORIA AVGVSTI is disposed around the upper periphery of the flan. The composition reflects the canonical Hadrianic Victory type struck at Rome to celebrate imperial successes and the consolidation of Roman power. |
