| Beschrijving keerzijde | Jupiter seated left on a low-backed throne, his upper body nude, holding a patera in his extended right hand and a long vertical scepter in his left. The god's legs are draped with a himation, and his feet rest upon a footstool, conveying divine majesty and authority. The circumferential legend PONT MAX TR POT COS III encircles the field, while the senatorial authorization mark S C appears prominently in the lower exergual area, flanking the throne base. The composition follows the established Julio-Claudian and Flavian iconographic tradition of Jupiter enthroned, reaffirmed here under Hadrian to emphasize imperial piety and legitimacy. The die work displays crisp, well-articulated relief consistent with the Rome Mint's finest orichalcum sestertii of the period. |
