| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine curling strands characteristic of his portraiture. The emperor's effigy is depicted with naturalistic detail, the paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS AVG, distributed around the full periphery of the flan. The portrait occupies the central field with commanding scale, consistent with the high-relief hammered technique of early Hadrianic sestertii struck at Rome. |

| Reverse description | The personification of Annona stands facing, her head turned slightly to the right, draped in a long chiton and himation. In her extended right hand she holds grain ears, while her lowered left hand grasps a cornucopia, symbolising the abundance of the imperial grain supply. At her feet to the left stands a modius, the standard grain measure. The letters S C (Senatus Consultum) are placed prominently in the field on either side of the figure, authorising the bronze coinage. The peripheral legend PONT MAX TR POT COS III encircles the upper field, with ANNONA AVG inscribed in the exergue. |
