| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed military paludamentum visible at the shoulder and characteristic Hadrianic beard rendered with careful stippling. The imperial effigy is portrayed from the front-facing perspective with strong, individualized portraiture. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, bordered by a beaded inner ring. The workmanship reflects the accomplished die-cutting style of the early Hadrianic period at the Rome mint. |
