| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, portrayed with his characteristic short beard, rendered in the vigorous relief typical of early Hadrianic coinage from the Rome Mint. The imperial effigy displays fine engraving of the hair and drapery folds over the left shoulder. The surrounding circular legend reads IMP CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS AVG P M TR P COS III, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with hammered orichalcum production of the period. |
