| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic short beard and curled hair arranged in the Hadrianic style. The emperor's paludamentum is visible over the left shoulder, lending the portrait an air of imperial authority. The encircling legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan in crisp Latin capitals. The portrait type reflects the accomplished die-cutting associated with the Rome mint in the early Hadrianic period. |
