| Reverse description | A Roman warship (galley) depicted sailing to the right in three-quarter perspective, its oars extended below the hull and rendered in crisp detail, with figures visible aboard including a helmsman at the stern. At the prow, an aphlaston (ornamental stern ornament) and a military standard are discernible. The legend FELICITATI AVG arches across the upper field, while COS III P P is inscribed in the lower exergual area; the senatorial mark S C flanks the hull at left and right. This reverse type alludes to the felicitas (good fortune and prosperity) of Hadrian's reign and likely commemorates his extensive imperial travels by sea. |
