背面描述 The emperor Hadrian advances to the right in military dress, leading a disciplined column of five soldiers in a scene evoking an adlocutio or military exercise. Three or more legionary standards are prominently displayed among the figures, emphasizing martial order and discipline. The composition is arranged horizontally across the reverse field, conveying movement and imperial authority over the army. The reverse legend DISCIPLINA AVG appears in the exergue or field, with the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the scene. This reverse type belongs to the well-known series of Hadrianic military travel coins, celebrating the emperor's personal inspection tours of the legions.

附加信息

The DISCIPLINA AVG coinage of Hadrian reflects his systematic overhaul of military training standards following his accession — he famously toured provincial garrisons in person, eating field rations with the troops and publicly rebuking officers whose units fell below his standards. The reverses of this series were almost certainly tied to that campaign of military reform, issuing alongside related types celebrating the army, the fleet, and individual provincial legions during the 120s and early 130s.

RIC II.3 1914 places this issue within Hadrian's later coinage, after the consolidation of his provincial tour program.
