Obverse description Bare-headed bust of the emperor Hadrian, draped and cuirassed, facing left, depicted from the rear or side in the so-called 'heroic' perspective characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor's hair is rendered in the distinctive curled style associated with his reign, shown in fine relief. The encircling Latin legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The overall portrait displays the confident, classicising artistic style typical of the Roman Imperial mint's output under Hadrian.

Reverse description The personification of Indulgentia, draped and seated to the left upon a throne or chair of state, extends her right hand in a gesture of clemency or beneficence, while her left hand holds a long vertical sceptre. The figure is rendered in a calm, hieratic style consistent with Hadrianic allegorical reverse types. The legend encircles the field, with the senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently placed in the lower field on either side of the seated figure.
