Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with fine detail characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture, including the emperor's distinctive short curly hair and full cropped beard — one of the earliest imperial portraits to feature a beard as a deliberate Hellenistic affectation. The effigy is positioned centrally and occupies the majority of the flan, conveying imperial authority. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, distributed around the periphery and bordered by a continuous beaded inner rim.

Reverse description The goddess Fortuna Redux is depicted seated left on a throne or chair, holding a rudder in her right hand resting on a globe at her feet and a cornucopia in her left hand, symbolic of her role as the Fortune of Safe Return. To her right stands a smaller figure, likely representing the emperor or a suppliant, facing left in a gesture of veneration. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the left and right fields respectively, flanking the central type. The abbreviated legend FORT RED is inscribed in the exergue below the seated figure, with the consular and honorific titles COS III P P distributed in the surrounding field or along the upper periphery, all enclosed within a beaded border.
