Flanking the goddess on both sides are stacked military standards — three to the left and three to the right — representing the legions of the Roman army. The scene is framed by the encircling legend CONCORDIA EXERCITVVM, with the senatorial authorization mark S C prominently placed in the lower exergual area. The composition emphasizes Hadrian's deliberate policy of cultivating goodwill and loyalty among the military forces. The reverse is executed in the bold, high-relief style typical of Rome Mint sestertii of this period. |
