The emperor's effigy is depicted with a paludamentum draped over the left shoulder, reflecting the imperial military iconography typical of Hadrianic coinage. The surrounding legend is inscribed in Latin characters along the outer border within a fine beaded rim. The portrait is executed in the refined, classicising style favoured during Hadrian's reign, with strong modelling of the facial features. The flan shows the characteristic irregular shape and green patina associated with orichalcum sestertii of this period. |
