附加信息

The ADVENTVS series of sestertii issued under Hadrian documents his extraordinary imperial tour of the provinces — a journey unmatched by any emperor before or since. His visit to Arabia Petraea, the province carved from the Nabataean kingdom by Trajan in 106 AD, came during the eastern leg of his travels around 130. The coins were struck not as souvenirs but as deliberate political instruments, reassuring provincial elites that Rome remembered them.

Arabia was among the less-celebrated stops; the province lacked the prestige of Egypt or Judaea, and its ADVENTVS issue is accordingly scarcer in surviving collections than others in the series.
