| Beschrijving keerzijde | The goddess Roma seated left on a cuirass, wearing helmet and military attire, her right arm raised and left hand resting on a spear or sceptre; a large oval shield leans against her side. The letters S and C (Senatus Consultum) are placed prominently in the left and right fields respectively, authorising the bronze coinage by senatorial decree. The exergue bears the legend ROMA in capital letters, identifying the personification and attributing the issue to the city of Rome. The composition is bold and well-centred, characteristic of the Rome Mint sestertius production under Galba. |
