Aanvullende informatie

Galba's seven-month reign — June 68 to January 69 AD — produced a concentrated burst of coinage heavy with political messaging aimed at legitimizing his seizure of power from Nero. The LIBERTAS RESTITVTA type was deliberate propaganda: Galba had marched on Rome presenting himself as a liberator, and these bronzes were part of the machinery that sold that narrative to a skeptical city.

He was dead before the ink dried on any long-term monetary policy. Murdered by the Praetorian Guard on January 15, 69 AD, his reign was short enough that surviving sestertii of any type command serious attention from specialists in the Year of the Four Emperors.
