| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war, depicted in full length facing left in a frontal three-quarter pose. She wears a helmet and is clad in a long chiton, holding a vertical spear or sceptre in her right hand and resting her left hand at her side or on a shield. The large senatorial mark of value S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently displayed in the lower field, flanking the figure to left and right respectively. The surrounding legend TR P COS VII DES VIII P P runs around the periphery of the reverse field. The composition reflects the standard Flavian reverse type associating Domitian with Minerva, his patron deity. |
