Reverse description Victory, winged and draped, stands facing right with her left foot raised and resting upon a helmet, inscribing the legend DE GER upon a large shield affixed to a trophy; at the base of the trophy, a captive Germania is seated to the right in an attitude of dejection, her hands bound, evoking Domitian's Danubian campaigns. The senatorial authorisation mark S C appears in the field. The composition is a powerful allegorical statement of Roman military triumph over the Germanic tribes.
