| Descrizione del rovescio | The personification of Pax (Peace) depicted standing left in full figure, draped in flowing robes, holding a cornucopiae in her left hand as a symbol of abundance and prosperity. With her right hand she applies a flaming torch to a pile of arms at her feet, symbolizing the destruction of weapons and the establishment of peace following Roman military victories. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, flanking the central figure to left and right, as was standard on aes coinage of the imperial period. This reverse type is associated with Domitian's Germanic campaigns and his propagandistic celebration of the Pax Romana. |
