| Beschrijving keerzijde | The goddess Minerva, helmeted and clad in a long aegis-decorated tunic and flowing drapery, strides purposefully to the right in a dynamic martial pose. Her raised right hand brandishes a javelin or spear, while her left arm supports a large round shield held at her side. The large senatorial authority monogram S C (Senatus Consultum) flanks the figure in the left and right fields respectively, rendered in bold relief. A beaded border frames the entire composition. This Minerva type was a favored reverse motif of Domitian, reflecting the emperor's personal veneration of the goddess. |
