| Reverse description | Jupiter, the chief deity of the Roman pantheon, is depicted enthroned and seated to the left upon an ornate throne, his mature bearded figure rendered with divine authority. In his extended right hand he holds a small figure of Victory, while his left hand grasps a long vertical sceptre. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consulto) flanks the central figure in the field to left and right, affirming the senate's role in issuing this bronze denomination. The reverse legend IOVI VICTORI appears in the upper field, dedicating the type to Jupiter in his aspect as bringer of victory. |
