| Reverse description | Domitian stands facing right before a flaming altar, performing a sacrificial rite; to his right, a victimarius leads a pig toward the altar. At left, the personification of Tellus reclines rightward, holding a cornucopiae and sheaves of grain along with poppies, symbolising the earth's abundance. Behind the principal figures, two musicians — a flute player and a lyre player — attend the ceremony, evoking the ceremonial grandeur of the Secular Games (Ludi Saeculares) celebrated in AD 88. The senatorial abbreviation S C appears in the field, denoting authorisation by the Senate, and the reverse legend encircles the composition. |
