Obverse description Bare or radiate head of Divus Augustus facing left, rendered in low relief with a somewhat crude provincial style characteristic of Caesaraugusta coinage. The surrounding circular legend reads DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER in Latin capitals, distributed around the full circumference of the flan. The portrait displays the idealized features associated with posthumous commemorative issues of Augustus under the Julio-Claudian emperors. The field shows evidence of heavy patination and surface wear consistent with extended circulation.
