| Reverse description | A triumphal arch depicted in three-quarter perspective, surmounted by an equestrian statue of the honoree advancing to the right, the rider holding a spear in his right hand and flanked on either side by a military trophy. The arch celebrates the campaigns of Nero Claudius Drusus in Germania and serves as a posthumous honorific monument. The design is executed in careful detail, with the trophies rendered as stacked arms and the horse in a prancing posture. The reverse legend identifying Drusus as conqueror of the Germans encircles the composition. This type commemorates the triumphal arch erected in honour of Drusus by the Senate. |
