Reverse description A legionary aquila (eagle standard) standing centrally between two military signa (standards), each decorated with phalerae (circular medallions) and other military ornaments, set upon a low base. The composition powerfully evokes Roman military authority and the colonial character of Caesaraugusta. The encircling Latin legend names the local duoviri quinquennales responsible for the issue, with VIR appearing in the exergue.
