| Descrizione del dritto | Helmeted and draped bust of Virtus facing right, wearing a crested helmet, the effigy rendered in a provincial style characteristic of Numidian civic coinage. The legend VIRTVS HONOR runs around the periphery of the flan in Latin capitals, distributed on either side of the bust. The obverse typology evokes Roman virtues of courage and honor, reflecting the civic aspirations of the Augustan-era colony of Cirta. The flan is irregular and somewhat rough, consistent with local hammered production, and the surfaces show a dark olive-brown patina with areas of encrustation. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Bare-headed draped bust of Augustus facing right, rendered in a restrained provincial style with lightly articulated facial features and simply coiffed hair. The surrounding legend, inscribed in Latin capitals along the periphery of the irregular flan, reads P SITTIVS MVGONIANVS IIIIVIR DECR DECVR D S P, identifying the issuing magistrate Publius Sittius Mugonianus, quattuorvir, acting by decree of the decurions and at his own expense. The portrait is consistent with Augustan civic portraiture as adopted in North African colonial mints. The flan displays the same dark patina and surface irregularities as the obverse, typical of locally struck bronze coinage of Cirta. |
