| Obverse description | Radiate head of the deified Augustus facing left, rendered in the idealised portrait style characteristic of Julio-Claudian provincial coinage. The radiate crown, a divine attribute signalling his posthumous consecration, frames the emperor's effigy. The circular legend DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER runs around the periphery of the field, invoking his title as divine father of the state. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show the typical granular texture of a hammered bronze issue struck at a provincial Hispanic mint. |
