| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Julio-Claudian portrait style typical of provincial coinage. A lituus (augural staff), emblem of Augustus's role as augur, is positioned in the field before the effigy. The Latin legend CAESAR DIVI F arcs around the portrait, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar. The flan is irregularly shaped and the surfaces show characteristic roughness of hammered provincial bronze coinage. The overall workmanship reflects the provincial mint's adaptation of official imperial iconography. |
