The body of the altar features a central ornamental roundel or shield device flanked by pilasters at each corner. The abbreviation C V T T — standing for Colonia Iulia Urbs Triumphalis Tarraco — is distributed in the field around the altar, with letters placed at the four quadrants. The composition is bold and schematic, consistent with Tiberian-era provincial bronze coinage of Hispania Tarraconensis. |
