| Obverse description | Crude hammered bust of a crowned figure facing left occupies the central field, rendered in low relief characteristic of small billon coinage of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. The portrait, though worn, displays a crowned head with visible drapery at the shoulder. The surrounding Latin legend reads ALOY · C · ISAB · G · SAB · DVCES, identifying the joint rulers Luigi Carafa and Isabella Gonzaga as Dukes of Sabbioneta. The legend is partially visible around the irregular flan, with a terminal S noted. The overall execution is typical of provincial Italian hammered coinage of the period. |
