| Reverse description | The reverse presents a cockerel (rooster) displayed in profile, standing upon a branch or perch amid floral or foliate decorative elements, rendered in the bold relief characteristic of hammered Italian Renaissance petty coinage. The bird is depicted with raised wings and prominent tail feathers, facing to the right, and serves as a heraldic or emblematic device associated with the Pico lordship of Mirandola. Floral or clover-like ornaments are visible in the lower field on either side of the perch. The design is enclosed within a beaded or dotted border that follows the irregular contour of the flan. The reverse field is devoid of legible inscription, the design alone filling the available space. |
