| Obverse description | Large Gothic capital letter F occupying the central field, surmounted by a marquessate crown rendered in relief. The crowned initial serves as a monogram for Francesco Gonzaga, Marquess of Castiglione delle Stiviere. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hammered billon coinage of this period and denomination. |
