| Obverse description | A double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread, standing facing on a horizontal line or bar that serves as a visual base element. The date 1578 appears in the exergue beneath the bar, rendered in period numerals. The eagle's heads are turned outward to either side, and the overall design is executed in the crude but bold style typical of hammered billon coinage of the Italian states in the sixteenth century. The field is plain and unlettered. |

| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Anthony Abbot, nimbed and draped in the habit of a hermit monk, standing on a horizontal ground line. The saint holds a tau staff or crozier in his right hand and raises a palm frond or branch in his left, with a small pig or animal at his feet to the lower left, attributes traditionally associated with Saint Anthony. The surrounding circular legend reads SAN ANTONIVS, disposed around the periphery of the field in bold Latin capitals. The style is characteristic of provincial hammered coinage of the late sixteenth century. |
