Obverse description Central field bearing the Visconti heraldic device of the biscione — a crowned serpent devouring a human figure — rendered in relief in the characteristic medieval Lombard style. The charge occupies the majority of the flan, with the serpent's coiled body forming a dominant central motif. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading B G VICECOMITES, abbreviating the joint rulers Bernabò and Galeazzo II Visconti. The coin is struck on an irregularly shaped flan typical of hammered medieval production.
