Obverse description Plain convex boss or pellet rendered in low relief at center, surrounded by a raised circular ridge, set against a broad, flat field with no legend or additional devices. The flan is irregular and rough-surfaced, characteristic of the cast aes grave production of the Lucerian mint. The minimalist design, consisting solely of the central convex element, is consistent with the fractional denomination series attributed to Luceria in the late 3rd century BC.
