Reverse description A raven standing right upon a laurel branch, rendered in moderate relief against a plain field. The bird's wings are folded and its head is turned slightly, a motif closely associated with Apollo, whose sacred bird the raven was in Roman religious iconography. Below the branch, in the lower field, the large senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently displayed in bold, open lettering. The design is enclosed within a partial beaded border, characteristic of Flavian-era aes coinage.
