Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of the young emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Antiochene mint. A serpent is depicted in the right field before the bust, a device associated with eastern civic iconography. The legend is partially visible around the periphery in Latin characters. The portrait displays youthful features consistent with early issues of Nero's reign, with the laurel wreath rendered in fine relief.
