| Beschrijving keerzijde | A Roman eagle, symbol of Jupiter and imperial apotheosis, stands facing with wings spread and head turned to the left, perched upon a thunderbolt rendered horizontally in the central field. The design occupies the majority of the reverse field and is executed in strong relief despite the small module. The surrounding legend COS III P P S C is arranged around the periphery, attesting to Hadrian's third consulship and the senatorial authority under which the coin was struck. The composition is bold and emblematic, consistent with the Hadrianic semis type documented in RIC II.3. |
