| 正面描述 | Two draped figures of Gaius and Lucius Caesar standing facing, side by side on a low podium, each wearing a toga and rendered in a schematic provincial style. The twin effigies are depicted frontally, their forms broad and rounded, characteristic of Hispanian municipal coinage of the Augustan period. The encircling Latin legend reads CAESARES GEMINI, identifying the heirs of Augustus. |

Tarraco served as the administrative capital of Hispania Citerior, and coins issued there under Augustus occupy a peculiar position — produced by a provincial mint operating under direct imperial sanction, with Gaius and Lucius Caesar named as duoviri quinquennales, an honorific magistracy the two young heirs were granted without ever setting foot in the city. The appointment was a political gesture, binding the colony's loyalty to the Julio-Claudian succession while the actual civic business was handled by local surrogates.
RPC I 212 is relatively scarce in decent condition, as Tarraconensian bronzes of this period circulated hard through a heavily urbanized province.
