| Reverse description | Three military standards displayed side by side in the field, each rendered with a shaft surmounted by a series of phalerae discs and a crescent-shaped lunula finial, evoking the standards of the Praetorian cohorts honoured at Philippi. The standards occupy the full height of the die, arranged in a symmetrical composition characteristic of Macedonian colonial bronze coinage. The encircling Latin legend COHOR PRAE PHIL, reading around the periphery within a dotted border, identifies the issuing authority as the praetorian cohorts of the Colonia Iulia Augusta Philippensis. |
