| Reverse description | A sacrificial patera or modius kalathos rendered in relief at the centre of the field, a symbol commonly associated with aedilician authority and civic cult in Hispanian provincial coinage. Surrounding the central device, the Latin legend reads C VAL AEDILES C SEX, distributed across the field in three lines, naming the two aediles C. Valerius and C. Sextilius who oversaw the issue on behalf of the municipium of Calagurris. The inscription is bold and legible despite moderate wear, with letters arranged to frame the central motif. The reverse flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, characteristic of the hammered technique employed at provincial Hispanic mints during the Augustan era. |
