Obverse description Bare or lightly draped bust of Augustus facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic-influenced provincial style typical of Leptis Magna coinage of the Augustan period. The portrait displays the characteristic features of the emperor with short hair and a plain neck truncation. A symbol, possibly an anchor or caduceus, appears in the right field. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat off-center, as is common for this provincial bronze issue.
