Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Prussia in right profile, wearing a military collar, occupying the upper half of the field. The legend 'DARESSALAM - 1914' curves along the upper rim, while a six-line inscription in the lower field reads 'ZWEITE - ALLGEMEINE / DEUTSCH·OSTAFRIKANISCHE / LANDESAUSSTELLUNG / PROTEKTOR / DER DEUTSCHE / KRONPRINZ', flanked at lower sides by two small Imperial German eagle devices.

Reverse description Mercury, nude and wearing a winged helmet, strides dynamically to the right, holding a caduceus in his raised left hand and extending a laurel wreath in his right. A leafy tree is depicted to the left and palm trees to the lower right, with a wavy ground line below the figure. The engraver's signature 'HOSAEUS' appears in the lower exergue.
