The legend 'DARESSALAM - 1914' curves along the upper rim, while a six-line inscription in the lower field reads 'ZWEITE - ALLGEMEINE / DEUTSCH·OSTAFRIKANISCHE / LANDESAUSSTELLUNG / PROTEKTOR / DER DEUTSCHE / KRONPRINZ', flanked at lower sides by two small Imperial German eagle devices.
