The shield is depicted in late Gothic heraldic style typical of early sixteenth-century North German municipal coinage. A Latin circumscription runs along the outer field, with the date incorporated at the end of the legend. The legend reads MONET NOV WISMA, identifying this as a new coinage of Wismar. |
