The effigy is rendered in high relief with bold, naturalistic modelling characteristic of late Renaissance Italian coinage. A rope-bordered inner circle frames the portrait. | Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field occupied by the quartered coat of arms of the della Rovere dynasty, consisting of a divided escutcheon bearing the della Rovere oak-tree device on the dexter side and a cross-charged quarter on the sinister, all surmounted by a ducal crown of elaborate floral and foliate design. The shield is rendered in high relief with fine heraldic detail. The surrounding Latin legend · VRBINI * DVX * VI reads along the outer border, identifying the ruler as the sixth Duke of Urbino. The coin's edge retains the characteristic rope-milled border of hammered Italian scudi. |
