Reverse description An allegorical female figure, personifying Mantua, is depicted seated and turned to the left, extending her right arm forward to present a reliquary or sacred vessel. In the lower left field, the bearded river god Mincius is shown rising from his waters in the classical recumbent tradition. The composition reflects the humanist and Renaissance allegorical iconography favored at the Gonzaga court. A Latin legend encircles the design proclaiming the glory of receiving Mantua.
