正面描述 Central field displays a crowned imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings, bearing a small shield on its breast charged with the arms of Lucerne (vertical stripes). The eagle is depicted in the characteristic Swiss cantonal hammered style. The date, partially visible in the legend as 1615, appears integrated into the surrounding circular inscription reading MON(ETA) with additional text. A beaded border frames the entire design.

附加信息

Lucerne's civic coinage of this period reflects the city's fierce attachment to its patron saint — Leodegar of Autun, the 7th-century bishop martyred under the Frankish mayor Ebroin, whose cult had anchored Lucerne's religious identity since the founding of the collegiate church bearing his name in the 8th century. The long striking window across seven decades suggests continuous production to meet small-change demand rather than discrete issuing episodes.

Billon coinage of this type circulated hard in Swiss markets and rarely survives without significant wear.
