| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features a rampant lion facing left in high relief, rendered in the crude but vigorous late-medieval hammered style typical of Angevin Hungary. The lion's mane, claws, and tail are stylized with characteristic boldness. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading '+ LODOVICI · RVnGARIE :·', identifying the issuer as Lajos (Louis I), King of Hungary. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hand-cut silver planchets of the period. The overall die work reflects the provincial workshop character of coinage struck specifically for the Ruthenian territories. |
